Sharm El Sheikh

Red Sea reef walks, desert-sunrise runs and thermal-salt bathing on Sinai’s wellness coast.

✈️ 5h from London🏨 Hotels from £72/night🗓 Best: October to April: 22-28°C, 25°C sea, calm winds

Sharm El Sheikh is the UK’s favourite winter-sun escape — a five-hour hop to 27°C, some of the world’s clearest reef diving, and a growing wellness scene built around Bedouin breathwork, Sinai salt caves and sunrise desert PT. Naama Bay handles the nightlife; Nabq and Sharks Bay handle the quiet coral-edged mornings.

Why UK travellers go

Year-round reef snorkelling straight off the beach, 35-minute direct flights to some of the Red Sea’s best dive sites, and all-inclusive resorts that still undercut Canaries pricing. Visa is a 25 USD e-visa or free 15-day Sinai-only stamp on arrival.

Best time to visit

October to April: 22-28°C, 25°C sea, calm winds. May to September is hot (35°C+) but cheapest. Ramadan 2027 shifts to February — resorts stay fully open.

🌅 Morning Ritual

A sunrise meditation at Farsha Mountain Lounge before it gets busy. Watching the sun hit the cliffs of Hadaba is the ultimate Sinai start.

🧘 Wellness

Scout the Ras Muhammad National Park for drift diving — the ultimate ‘Blue Health’ ritual. For land-based recovery, the Turkish Hammams in the Old Market offer the best salt-scrub treatments.

🔒 Privacy

We recommend the Shark’s Bay area. It’s closer to the airport but much quieter and more private than the crowded Naama Bay centre.

Where to stay in Sharm El Sheikh

Nabq Bay

Protected reef right off the beach, newest five-stars, quiet wellness-led stays. Best for first-time divers and spa escapes.

Sharks Bay

Dive-centre capital — cliffside reefs, sunrise desert runs into the Sinai hills, mid-range resorts with real dive schools.

Naama Bay

The original strip — walkable promenade, rooftop restaurants, nightlife. Older hotels but the most liveable if you hate resort compounds.

Sunrise camel breakfast at Ras Mohammed with a Bedouin guide — 45 minutes from town, 60 GBP, includes mint tea and fresh bread on coals while the sun clears the reef.
