6. Akbar's Tomb at Sikandra — 8km north of Agra. Mughal emperor Akbar's mausoleum, the architectural bridge between Humayun's Tomb and the Taj. Underrated, low-crowd, beautifully kept gardens — and watch for monkeys in the grounds. 90 minutes.

7. Kinari Bazaar Marble Inlay Shopping — The descendants of the original Taj Mahal artisans still practise parchin kari (marble inlay) in workshops near the Taj. Buy from the certified emporiums (avoid touts) — small marble plates start ₹2,000, larger pieces ₹15,000+. Watch the inlay being cut on-site.

8. Mohabbat the Taj Show — Touristy theatrical retelling of the Shah Jahan-Mumtaz love story. Cheesy but informative if you want context for the monument. Held at the Kalakriti Cultural Centre, evening performances daily, ₹1,000-2,500.

9. Sadar Bazaar Street Food Trail — Petha (translucent pumpkin sweet, Agra's most famous food) at Panchhi Petha; bedai-aloo and jalebi at the morning bedai stalls; mughlai paratha at the late-night stands. Stick to busy stalls, avoid open chutneys, drink only sealed water.

10. Anguri Bagh inside Agra Fort — Often missed. The "Vine Garden" inside the fort complex was where Shah Jahan's harem walked among grape vines. Underground summer-palace rooms below it stay 10°C cooler than the surface. Add 30 minutes to your Agra Fort visit specifically for this.

A word of caution: rhesus macaques are common around Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri and some Fatehabad Road hotel gardens. Don't carry food visibly, keep bags zipped, and walk away calmly rather than making eye contact if one approaches.
