“Extremely poor & nearly ruined my final night’s stay in Brighton”
The coffee shop downstairs was lovely and full of character. Obviously a popular with the locals too. The barista who seemed to also be the receptionist at the time, despite it costing £140 for the night, was very helpful.
I booked a room here because I wanted a special final night in Brighton in a place with character. I couldn’t have been more disappointed. The room was nothing like as described on the website. The walls were a depressing ashy blue, not cream as shown in the pictures. The decor was old and shabby with horrible old curtain in the window. The aircon unit didn’t work. When you switched on the light in the small bathroom there was a loud banging noise. I was told the room would be quiet and it wasn’t. Because of no air con I would have had to wedge open the window and North Street is a busy road. The tv was tiny and cheap. The lighting in the room was terrible. No thought or care had been put into that. It felt unwelcoming and uncared for. For £140 a night I was shocked by the size and standard of the room and the fact that there was no one properly at reception to help me when I had all these issues. When I cancelled my reservation booking.com never mentioned that this would mean I would not longer able to leave a review. I had to be on the phone for another hour saying surely it was my right as a customer to do that. How else do other people find out about my experience? They apologised but said there was nothing they could do because the system doesn’t allow that. When I said I would share this experience of booking.com I woke up this morning and, remarkably the system was ‘fixed’ and the questionnaire was in my inbox! All in all not a good experience whatsoever.

It was a really lovely little guest house in the perfect location! Room was super comfy, clean and had everything we needed.
