“Bad sanitary, good beach”
There were ants in our room, all over the drawers near bed, very poor wifi, some spots on the sheets. It is a 4-star hotel that is not cheap so its not corresponding the quality with the price.
“Expensive Hotel - Very Poor Experience”
The premium room we were offered on the 4th floor is in dire need of a refurbishment. The decor is very tired and old fashioned. The screen over the bath was broken and it could not be moved back over to sit on the edge of the bath. Although there is a good choice of food at breakfast, the quality is extremely poor. The water to make tea is luke warm so this was not a good start to the day. We were given a room (402) that is adjoining with another and we could hear the couple next door which was not acceptable. The free shuttle bus is good but you need to book early because it gets fully booked very quickly. Failing that you would need to catch a bus into the centre as it is 2.3 m to the town. It is a very long way to walk on a very dangerous road. The Nespresso machine in is a nice touch and the room is a nice size and very clean. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this Hotel.
“Lackluster and disappointing”
We had a disappointing experience at this hotel. By way of background, we booked the premium top floor room with Ocean View, which cost approximately $400 a night. For that large sum of money (to us, at least), we encountered a fairly run down, and very much lived in, hotel. Based on the positive reviews, we were pretty shocked by what we discovered when we arrived at the hotel and saw our room (which included leaks right near the entrance to the room and on the balcony). But more than anything, we were disappointed by the fact that our room happened to be missing a “Do Not Disturb” sign, which meant we were woken up twice by housekeeping fairly early in the morning (even after we told housekeeping to please let us sleep). When we told the front desk about our experience, their response was little more than “Oops, oh well.” Given how much we paid for the room, and all of the issues with the room (and hotel), it was a disappointing end to an underwhelming stay.
“Only expect care before you swipe your card”
Rooms and restraunt excellent during stay. Front desk does has a gentlemen who really enjoys rolling his eyes. NOT WELL CORDINATED FRONT DESK. When asked for help getting suitcases up a very tall hill which they originally helped us down the hill with, he rolled his eyes and told us we could drag them all up hill ourselves. We have three people in our family with injuries who could not pull weight up hill. Our driver was extremely kind and navigated the tight road down hill backwards to help us. Hotel offered zero help when leaving except handing our driver someone elses bag which further delayed our trip. Leaving other hotel guests missing luggage. We turned around gave them the bag. Then they called agian upset saying we had a 2nd bag which we did not have because we had already turned around and checked all our suite cases. Please expect confusion and rudeness as the front desk upon departure because caring for Guests stops the second you swipe your card.
“A lovely hotel in a great location for exploring Taormina and surrounding area”
Just back from a wonderful week staying at Hotel Caparena. The hotel is in a lovely spot right on the beach ( okay there is a train line in front of hotel but trains are not that frequent and really didn’t bother us). The hotel is spotless with rooms cleaned every day. The staff are very welcoming and efficient. The breakfast buffet is really good with lots of choice. The pool area is lovely with comfortable beds and a nice pool bar. The free shuttle to and from Taormina is excellent. We used it every day and the drivers were always polite and punctual. There is also a bus stop right outside the hotel which provides good links to other towns in the area. You can also walk along the beach and promenade into Letojanni which has some nice bars and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a great place to stay if you don’t want to be right in the heart of Taormina but close enough to visit when you want to.
