From the moment we arrived at Avani, it was clear this wasn’t just another hotel stay — it was something truly special. I’ve travelled extensively, and I can say without hesitation that this is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Every single staff member we encountered was warm, friendly, and genuinely invested in making our stay unforgettable. Their kindness, helpfulness, and beautiful energy set Avani apart. Nothing was ever too much trouble — they went above and beyond in every interaction. The resort itself is stunning. Our room was exceptional: spacious, spotless, beautifully designed, and complete with a separate lounge and kitchenette. The bed was the best, pillows and mattress so comfortable. Thank you to the staff who kept our room spotless and turned down our bed and opened mosquito nets every night. The entire property feels thoughtfully maintained and wonderfully peaceful. The pool area was a dream — sparkling water, comfy loungers, and delicious, well‑priced cocktails. The pool and bar service was outstanding, with staff who made relaxing feel effortless. The food was delicious and service outstanding, thank you. And the setting? Absolutely magical. Our room sat right by a serene pond (home to some little alligators!) overlooking the pool, creating a unique and unforgettable atmosphere. You couldn’t ask for better access to the area. It’s an easy walk to the Zambia side of Victoria Falls, and just as simple to wander over to the Livingstone Hotel for sunset cocktails. Everything feels close, safe, and beautifully connected to nature. This was the highlight of our stay — and something we’ll never forget. We sat outside our room watching around 50 monkeys play, leap, and chatter. Then, as if scripted, a giraffe galloped past, followed by another who wandered right up and paused to look at us — only a few metres away. Zebras graze casually around the grounds and by the pool, impalas wander gracefully, and even mongoose scurry through the gardens.
Twice we tried to book Bomba dinner and was told maybe if there are more guests booking as they need 30. When we rang an hour before to confirm if enough people had booked we were told there was a private function and couldn’t attend. This happened two nights in a row. Surely they would know private functions were booked and could have said no from the start, then we could have organised another activity for the evenings. Was a little disheartening but no big issue as we will do the Bomba dinner in Zimbabwe. Would also recommend a pull out clothes line in bathroom to hand small rinsed clothing.
