We stayed at Novotel Annecy on our seventh night of our road trip around France, Italy, Switzerland and Monaco. The hotel really surprised us with its quirkiness. We hadn’t looked into it much before booking and didn’t realise the building overhangs the railway, which we found fun and interesting to see. It definitely brings a modern vibe with a touch of unusual charm. The room was spacious enough for a family of three, newly refurbished and well designed. The underground car park also proved to be well designed for our low‑suspension car, which we appreciated. The location is great too; you can reach the old town in about a 10‑minute walk. Breakfast was exceptionally good! Plenty of choice, all hot and fresh. There were traditional local options as well as some new choices for us, which was lovely to see and try. A large group staying at the hotel had completely taken over the breakfast room in the morning, leaving no free tables, but the staff were very accommodating and quickly found us a nice space outside. Luckily the weather was pleasant, so it actually felt like a bonus not having to sit in a crowded room. The foyer facilities are again very modern, up‑to‑date and inviting, with plenty of space to sit, have a drink, read a magazine or simply lounge.
We would prefer a walk‑in shower instead of a shower over the bath.
