“Beautiful resort, but very underwhelming for the price.”
The upgraded villa was absolutely beautiful and completely changed our stay. The resort grounds were stunning, the breakfast buffet was great and we appreciated management ultimately resolving our original villa issue with a complimentary upgrade.
For the price, the overall experience was surprisingly underwhelming. Our original Garden Pool Villa had the bedroom and living/kitchen areas in separate buildings, requiring us to go outside and unlock another building just to move between them. During heavy rain and thunderstorms this was extremely impractical. This configuration had not been made clear to us when booking. After raising the issue more than once, management eventually moved us to a beautiful interconnected villa for the remaining three nights, which was a huge improvement. Dining options were also disappointing for a resort of this size and price. Dinner choices were very limited. We tried both the Italian and Indian restaurants and neither meal matched the standard we expected from a luxury resort. Accessing nearby restaurants was unnecessarily difficult despite several being visible just beyond the property. The spa was another disappointment. Hairstyling/updo was advertised on the menu, so I travelled across the large resort by buggy specifically to have my hair styled. On arrival I was told they no longer had a stylist or even styling tools and the service should have been removed from the menu. I left with wet, frizzy hair and wasted time during a short stay. The replacement villa was fantastic, but without that upgrade our experience would have been extremely disappointing considering the price we paid.
