We picked the key up from staff at the bar who showed us to a nice spacious room, clean and very convenient for our activities. The bar below was not noisy, so that was not a bother.
When booking, and again later, I had asked for a twin room if possible, as I was staying with my pregnant daughter, but the responses were clearly automated and never actually mentioned there were only double rooms. We managed with the large comfortable bed, but it would have been nicer to have had forewarning. Also it was a very hot weekend, so we asked for a fan, but none was available, so the room was very stuffy.

These are rooms above a pub, with a theatre, with a real vibe in a trendy part of Bristol, not far from Whiteladies Road. There's a really friendly, relaxed atmosphere about the place. Don't expect 4/5 star hotel opulence; do expect good value for the price.
The staircase up to the rooms will remind people of their student accommodation days. Don't be put off, persevere and the rooms themselves are spacious.

Das Zimmer ist groß und schön eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Kleine Frenchpress mit Kaffeepulver sowie Teebeutel und im Flur für die Gäste ein kleines Frühstücksangebot mit Milch, Haferdrink, Cornflakes und Müsli. Kaffeepulver zum nachfüllen fürs Zimmer steht bereit. Normalerweise wird auch Wasser in Flaschen angeboten, das sich im Kühlschrank befindet. Im Erdgeschoss befindet sich ein wirklich schöner Pub für den abendlichen Ausklang mit einem Getränk. Essen haben sie nicht jeden Abend, leider, denn die Pizza ( es gibt nur Pizza in Varianten) war ausgesprochen lecker. Die Straße ist ruhig. Ein paar Läden, sonst Wohnhäuser. Das Haus ist alt und hat sicherlich seine Geschichte. Man sollte sich nicht erschrecken, wenn man durch das Treppenhaus geht. Es ist schon lange nicht mehr renoviert worden. Deshalb wirkt es sehr schäbig. Aber auch das ist ein Teil seines Charmes für mich.
Leider gab es für die Dauer unseres Aufenthaltes kein Wasser im Angebot. Das Geschirr, das nach draußen gebracht werden soll, stand zwei Tage lang auf dem Buffet, bevor es abgeholt wurde. Von zwei Packungen Haferdrink, die im Kühlschrank standen, war eine abgebrochen und ist schlecht geworden, als wir am Anreisetag davon trinken wollten. Nachts war für eine Stunde oder anderthalb ein brummendes Geräusch zu hören, das wir nicht ausfindig machen konnten. Ob es im Haus war oder in der Nachbarschaft? Keine Ahnung. Jedenfalls störte es unseren Schlaf. Zum Glück ist im Urlaub ungestörte Nachtruhe nicht so wichtig. Wäre nur schön gewesen
