Dar Baladin is in a very central location. Housekeeping came 3 out of the 4 days we were there. Felix met us and showed us around the apartment and gave us useful suggestions. The problem we had with the electricity was sorted out very quickly by a helpful maintenance person. The showers had plenty of hot water.
Dar Baladin is in serious need of attention and maintenance to merit Booking's quality rating of 'fabulous'. Problems we encountered have been mentioned in previous reviews. There are some tired and partially broken items in the bedrooms. The roof terrace is totally unloved with a partially broken table and old furniture which should be removed. Old seagull droppings showed further lack of attention. We were two people (one per room) so we didn't mind small duvets or only one lamp on one side of the bed but it would be a problem for couples. The proximity of the bed to the wall in the first floor bedroom would make it hard for anybody with mobility problems which brings me to the stairs. The layout of Dar Baladin (on 5 levels) did not bother us and we appreciated that this is part of the historical nature of the building. We were fine with the stairs. However, it needs to very clear on the Booking website that this property is not suitable for people who cannot manage stairs and it is certainly not suitable for people with small children. The stairs up to the terrace were particularly steep. We were only alerted to the stairs once we had booked with a message which came with the confirmation. Inside the kitchen cupboards, there was an overwhelming smell of damp and must. It also looked quite unsavoury. This was not anything to do with humidity mentioned which we knew about in advance. There was an old sponge and stained tea towel which need to be replaced. Dar Baladin has been redecorated and modernised at some stage and there are some nice touches but it has not been maintained or overseen and this is a shame. I am not happy to give this feedback and I hope Dar Baladin will get the attention it deserves
