The people, the location and the facilities
The wifi. It disconnected my phone various times, the connection was not stable enough.
โThere are reasons why the price stays lowโ
Staff are 11/10 super nice and greet you every time you enter. Common area is superb. Working spaces are a thoughtful addition. Kitchen well equipped. The bedding is clean, but donโt look down the sides of the dorm beds. Location is alright, the zooming cars arenโt fun but the nearby centre of Tennoji is a nice area. Thereโs a free foot-onsen outside (part of the hostel) which is open 4-10pm.
There is a smell of raw sewerage and cigarette smoke in the dorm rooms. The โsmoking roomโ downstairs is somehow connected to the ventilation of the entire building complex, and of course the plumbing is shot. Can also confirm the shower does take 5+ minutes to get warm. For sure none of it will get fixed if it has already gotten this bad. I didnโt like the cosmetics-store playlist constantly on in the common area. When the staff left they switched it off and people finally started socialising and being happy. The wifi is kinda patchy downstairs. The long-term stayers arenโt great either, least favourite being the Israeli guy speaking at full volume endlessly.
