Unfortunately, our stay at Rioxs Hotel was extremely disappointing, and there were several issues that made us question the hotelβs standards of cleanliness, customer service, and safety. The staff were frequently on their phones and, in our experience, did not seem attentive to guests who needed assistance. I also found a stain on my bed and complained about it, but nothing was done. The room was not cleaned to an acceptable standard and was left dirty throughout our stay. The windows around the hotel were also consistently very dirty. What concerned us most was the safety of the children's facilities. My child got sand in their eyes in the children's play area, but when we asked for assistance, the staff did not have any eye wash available. This is particularly concerning in an area specifically intended for children. Even more worrying, one of my children was scratched by a nail sticking out from the skirting board. This is a serious safety concern that should have been identified and fixed before someone got hurt. We also ordered a shisha which did not work. We sent it back, but we were not refunded for it. We were then expected to pay for it when leaving the hotel, despite having returned it because it was not working. The situation when we were leaving was particularly upsetting. We felt that some of the staff were aggressive towards us, and the barrier was closed, preventing us from leaving. We found the situation intimidating and frightening, especially as we were there with our children. Regardless of any disagreement over payment, we do not believe guests should be made to feel intimidated or prevented from leaving. I have photographs documenting some of the issues mentioned above and am prepared to provide them to management. Before making our experience public, we are giving Rioxs Hotel the opportunity to address our concerns directly.
