“Amazing views of a building site, a temperamental lift, and a rude host”
The service lady was friendly and helpful
Where do I start? Terrible experience from the beginning. I booked this apartment last minute and called the host for check-in instructions. He was speaking French, which I didn’t understand, so I passed the phone to our driver to translate. The host immediately hung up. He then called me back speaking fluent English and rudely told me that he “doesn’t speak to taxi drivers.” If he could speak fluent English, I don’t understand why he didn’t simply do so in the first place. When we arrived, we had seven pieces of luggage with us. I couldn’t get the lift to work because it has an unusual touchscreen that you have to press and hold. I called the host for help, and instead of explaining how the lift worked, he rudely told me to take the stairs. With seven pieces of luggage, this was hardly reasonable. He also failed to mention there were two sets of stairs, so we unknowingly took the wrong ones. He then ignored my calls for a while before eventually answering. After some pushback, he said he had asked the service lady to come and help but claimed he didn’t know how long she would take because she lived far away. At this point, I became frustrated and told him to cancel the booking. Interestingly, his attitude suddenly became much friendlier. Thankfully, the service lady arrived shortly afterwards and was friendly and helpful. Negatives: • “Fabulous views” of a building site • Small, dirty-looking inflatable-style pool • Old, fuzzy bedding and not enough of it • Not enough towels • Lift was broken for much of our stay • Rude and unhelpful host Positives: • Air conditioning in the living room and two bedrooms, although there was only one remote • Good location Would I stay here again? Absolutely not.
