Amazing boutique hotel on the west bank of Luxor, far from the hustle and bustle, and very authentic. Very nice refreshing pool in the shade.

I chose Embrace Hotel mainly because I was attracted by its beautiful courtyard and architecture, and I stayed there with a group of women while organizing a women’s retreat.
Unfortunately, the actual experience came with a number of very unpleasant surprises. First of all, the breakfast was more of a snack than an actual breakfast, and unfortunately, it was not good at all. The positive side is that the hotel cats certainly enjoyed it. As for the restaurant, being in Egypt, I expected to have the opportunity to discover some traditional Egyptian food. Instead, the menu consisted mostly of standard dishes that you can find almost anywhere. On top of that, it took approximately one hour for an order to arrive, and even the coffee was not good. However, the most serious issue had nothing to do with the food or the service, but with my personal safety inside the hotel. I had an extremely uncomfortable experience with the owner’s eldest son, Kareem, who repeatedly made unwanted advances towards me and gave me personal compliments that went far beyond what I considered appropriate in an interaction between hotel staff or management and a guest. I made it very clear that I was not interested and also told him that I am in a relationship. Despite this, he did not respect that boundary and continued to approach me and insist. His behavior made me feel harassed and, most importantly, unsafe. The situation became uncomfortable enough that the women participating in the retreat I was organizing began accompanying me whenever I moved around the hotel because they were concerned about me being approached by him again when I was alone. Even in my own room, in order to feel safe enough to sleep, I made sure that my door was locked twice and that the balcony door was securely closed. I believe that the fact that a guest feels the need to take these kinds of precautions inside a hotel says enough about the seriousness of the experience. Another disappointing aspect was the complete lack of flexibility. Even though the hotel was almost empty, I asked whether I could extend my check-out time by just two hours, but my request was refused.
